This fund provides a key source of flexible funding that the Dean can direct at their discretion to advance the core needs of the School of Engineering.

Gifts to support the Deshpande Center Innovation program. The Center provides grants and assistance to MIT researchers to move their technologies from the labs to the commercial world, where they will have an impact. It also educates them on the process of commercializing technology.

This fund supports the School of Engineering dean’s strategic School education initiative with a vital source of unrestricted funding that the Dean can use to advance engineering education.

Gifts of alumni/ae and friends to support the MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering, and Science (MITES) office. MITES' mission is to diversify the science and engineering community by serving students from underrepresented and underserved backgrounds and empowering these students to develop the skills and confidence needed to pursue careers in technical fields.

Gifts to support the New Engineering Education Transformation (NEET) initiative in the School of Engineering. NEET is an interdepartmental project-centric academic program with formalized collaboration across departments, which aims to educate young engineers to build the new machines that will address societal needs, by preparing them to work as entrepreneurs/innovators and discoverers, and by instilling the NEET Ways of Thinking.

Gifts to support the Sandbox Innovation Fund Program. This educational program includes grants to assist MIT students in pursuit of their innovative and entrepreneurial ideas. The program provides opportunities for hands-on learning experience, customized for each team of entrepreneurs, in a way that is mindful of the academic cycle.
