Funds for the Center for Advanced Nuclear Energy Studies, the locus of fission energy research at MIT. CANES was established in September 2000 by the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering and the MIT Energy Laboratory to create through research a better understanding of nuclear energy systems that promise more favorable economics, safety, proliferation resistance and environmental impact. Funds may be used as seed funds for new research projects, to support the equipment needs of junior faculty, to support research assistants, to act as matching funds when needed, to support student travel to present papers at conferences, and other research related efforts.

Gifts of alumni/ae and friends to support the Center for Brains, Minds and Machines (CBMM), a multi-institutional NSF Science and Technology Center dedicated to the study of intelligence - how the brain produces intelligent behavior and how we may be able to replicate intelligence in machines.

Gifts to support the work being performed by the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR).

Gifts of alumni/ae and friends to support the core costs of the Center, including events, seminars, new program seed funds, and faculty research projects.

The MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics (MIT CTL) is a world leader in supply chain management, transportation, and logistics education and research. This fund helps CTL continue its mission of driving supply chain innovation into practice through support of its activities and operations.

Gifts of Charles and Jennifer Johnson to establish an endowed fund to support the activities of the Center for Cancer Research with preference for research related to lung cancer, including but not limited to support of faculty and/or graduate student research.

Gifts to support the Deshpande Center Innovation program. The Center provides grants and assistance to MIT researchers to move their technologies from the labs to the commercial world, where they will have an impact. It also educates them on the process of commercializing technology.

The MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research is an interdepartmental center that supports research in space science and engineering, astronomy and astrophysics.

Gifts from alumni/ae and friends to support the Lorenz Center. Gifts will be used to further the understanding of fundamental climate science at MIT. Emphasis will be placed on developing new theory and reconciling it with observations to better understand the complex Earth systems.

Gifts to support the activities of the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship.

The PSFC Academic and Educational Fund provides financial support for our outreach and educational activities to support visiting students, undergraduate, graduate students and summer workshops, in addition to providing new educational tools for elementary and high schools educators, new expo and conference educational displays and materials and updated interactive teaching tools for schools, visitors and the general public.

The Poitras Center for Psychiatric Disorders Research at the McGovern Institute supports novel research into the biological basis of major mental illness: its origins, manifestations and potential treatment strategies, concentrating on bipolar, schizophrenia, depression and anxiety.

Gifts to provide support for the establishment of a new experimental capability focused on accelerating fusion materials science at the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center.
