The work that MIT does is very important … the way it teaches, the way it prepares its students, and the way MIT is not afraid to be world-class. These are very important things to the entire planet, which is why I think it is critical that all alumni give to the Institute and support the world-class work being done there.

Alumni

What makes a great school? Lots of things, including highly accomplished students and alumni, a faculty with depth and breadth, and a record of innovating with impact.

MIT is a world leader in all three of these areas, but there's an equally important measure of a great school: the support of its graduates. By this crucial yardstick, MIT also has reason to be proud.

Over any five-year period, nearly two-thirds of MIT undergraduate alumni will make at least one gift to the Institute. In the same period, more than half of alumni who have received only a graduate degree from MIT will also make a gift. In fact, more than 2,100 alumni gave for the first time last year, demonstrating to both MIT and the larger world that they value the time they spent here.

All alumni gifts are included in the annual Alumni Fund total, and the generosity of MIT's alumni and friends make our Alumni Fund one of the most successful in the country.
