Welcome to the William Barton Rogers Society, a fellowship of MIT’s most steadfast and loyal supporters! Named for the Institute’s founding father, this society recognizes those who are committed to his vision - the advancement of practical science for the benefit of mankind. One need look no further than MIT's Brain and Cognitive Sciences Complex, the Center for Cancer Research, the Broad Institute, MIT's Energy Initiative, and the wonderful symbiosis of our engineering disciplines and pure sciences to see the impact MIT is having on our world.
Members of the William Barton Rogers Society serve as humble granite pillars, strengthening and fortifying the foundation he set nearly 150 years ago, and ensuring that MIT remains a world-class institution. Today, we number more than 4,000, and our members live in forty countries, spanning the classes from 1929 to present day seniors. The loyalty of our WBRS membership has been incredibly impressive considering the difficulty of the economic environment, an indication of MIT’s relevance in being a champion in advancing the human condition.
Annual gifts help to further the mission and support the Institute's promise: an education that combines rigorous academic study and the excitement of discovery with the support and intellectual stimulation of a diverse campus community. Your gift of $1,000* or more to any department, project or fund qualifies you for membership in WBRS, and inclusion in this giving society is our way of honoring your philanthropy.
Please join us, year after year, as we continue to build this society of MIT's alumni, parents, and friends.
Sincerely,
Gerald M. Appelstein '80
