Thank you to the volunteers and donors who raised a total of $5,376 to fund Public Service Center Expedition Grants. The money raised already helped cover five travel grants for MIT students to do public service work abroad during IAP. Thanks to additional support this spring, the PSC will be able to fund even more grants for this summer. In just one week in the fall and one week in the spring, 858 MIT students donated to this great cause—that's 28% of the underclassmen body! Congratulations to the Class of 2011 for earning the highest participation rate with 42% of the class raising $2,632; that's enough for three expedition grants! During the spring each class combined was able to raise a total of $1,895 from 235 gifts which will send more students abroad this summer. In addition to funds raised by students, the current Alumni Association president Harbo Jensen PhD '74 is going to keep his promise and donate $5,000 to the PSC! There is nearly an additional $7,000 to fund expedition grants, so stay tuned to see the amazing work your classmates will do this summer with the money you raised. |
