Thank you to all of the volunteers and donors who made the first half of the Underclassmen Giving Campaign a huge success. With just one week of fundraising, 1,207 students, or 37% of the underclassmen student body, donated to help fund Public Service Center’s Expedition Grants!

The campaign raised $5,766, which will be matched by our challenger, current Alumni Fund Board Chair Don Shobrys ’75. The money raised this fall will go directly towards funding MIT students performing public service work abroad this IAP! Stay tuned for more information on how the money was used once the PSC volunteers return in February.

Congratulations to the Class of 2012 for having the highest participation rate so far (a first for any sophomore class!), with a staggering 45% of sophomores donating, raising more than $2,000 for the PSC! Freshmen and juniors should not lose heart; the sophomore lead is definitely not unbreakable and there is still one more week to go in the spring. You can check out results for the freshmen and juniors on their class participation pages.

All underclassmen that did not have a chance to participate in the fall will get one more opportunity to give and help boost each class’ participation again this spring! All the money raised in the spring will go to help support your fellow students going abroad to do public service work during the summer.
