Unrestricted giving
Unrestricted gifts go directly toward solving the Institute’s most pressing needs. They create opportunities. They keep MIT’s great engine of learning—teaching and research alike—humming. And, they improve the quality of campus life. To cite just a few examples:
Student financial support
Gifts to unrestricted funds enable MIT to remain committed to its need-blind admissions and need-based financial aid policies, ensuring that every student who has earned admission to the Institute is able to attend.
Extracurricular learning
Unrestricted funds have made it possible for students to learn vital leadership skills through programs like MIT LeaderShape®. LeaderShape® has students planning ambitious team enterprises and fine-tuning them, with faculty aid, in intensive week-long workshops.
Solving global problems
Momentum behind the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) is positioning the Institute to play a lead role in solving the global energy crisis. The David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research is the place where novel ways of diagnosing, monitoring, and treating cancer are being developed by scientists and engineers working side-by-side. Both have benefited from early support by the unrestricted funds of the Institute.
Opportunities for making a difference
MIT welcomes gifts of any amount to its unrestricted resources, and suggests you consider directing your contribution to the fund listed below:
