In 1960, Douglas McGregor produced his seminal work, The Human Side of Enterprise — in which he put forth his Theory X / Theory Y philosophy on human motivation — while on the faculty of what was then known as the MIT School of Industrial Management.

The MIT Sloan Annual Fund

Unrestricted resources from the MIT Sloan Annual Fund permit the dean to address the School’s most pressing needs, and invest seed money to support innovation in the School’s programs, research, and co-curricular activities. The Dean’s Fund for Innovation recognizes leadership gifts to the Annual Fund of $5,000 or more.

In the past, MIT Sloan Annual Fund resources have been used to enhance all of the School's academic programs, as well as—

  • supporting young faculty,
  • enhancing the School’s diversity, and
  • supporting selected programmatic and research initiatives.
