Emerging Technologies
This School-wide initiative in the MIT School of Engineering seeks to continually fuel next-generation technologies and move early-stage, cutting-edge ideas from the research lab into the marketplace. That is, it seeks to make a positive impact on our lives by fusing innovation and entrepreneurship.
Many companies that depend on the fruits of basic science are responding to the pressure for short-term returns by reducing their investment in long-term research. As a result, there are fewer funding opportunities for research in potentially ground-breaking technologies and applications.
To address this funding gap, the School of Engineering has established the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation.
