We recognize the complex challenges tomorrow’s graduates will face in a changing world, and we’re creating facilities to make sure our graduates can meet those challenges.

Bricks and mortar

The last several years at MIT have seen a robust building effort—one that has revitalized our campus, and produced landmark buildings. These facilities address critical educational needs, and reflect an increased emphasis on the cohesiveness of MIT’s community by providing more shared spaces and by fostering a more interactive learning environment.

The Stata Center, the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center, Simmons Hall, and the brain and cognitive sciences complex have proved important additions to our campus. But new bricks-and-mortar needs have already emerged. Our work is not done: we must continue to address the needs of our individual Schools and centers — for example, with a new campus for MIT Sloan — and we have more work to do in student housing.
